The Tow Show is go!
The owners of the European Tow Show, RHA, have announced that the Tow Show will definitely go ahead this year. The announcement has been made to clear up any doubts raised over the recent cancellation of the CV Show, which was due to be held at the NEC in March. RHA is one of the partners of the CV Show and the cancellation of that show was due to the major truck manufacturers withdrawing their support, due to the downturn in the global economy and its effect on the fall in demand for new vehicles.
Roger King, Chief Executive of the RHA, has made the following statement:
"We have surveyed exhibitors from previous shows and whilst it is true to say some will not be attending, most will. Some told us they were ready to consider a positive response once the RHA made known its intentions. We now have, so let show time commence".
"As usual Frank McAllister, Roy Jones and the Tow Show Team will be orchestrating the event to its usual high standard" continued Roger King. "There will be a first rate seminar with a social programme focused on the Tow Show's unique opportunity for operators, suppliers and customers to build relationships".
"After the cancellation of the CV Show the staging of the European Tow Show demonstrates that this industry for one can play its part in looking to the future and towing the industry's economy forward."
Roger King stated in the RHA monthly magazine, Roadway, that he was concerned over the cancellation of the CV Show and hinted that a downsized show, albeit without the manufacturers, would have given the suppliers to the industry a unique opportunity to showcase their products.
He said "Nowadays truck manufacturers are foreign-owned and decisions are made in faraway places and in the ever present move towards globalisation, one decision apparently fits all markets. Business is still happening but together we need to do more. If we wait around for the government to launch yet another initiative to solve everything, we might die of old age.
"Of course shows are expensive, but costs can be reduced. Indeed a budget show would have hit all the right buttons, for in the end it was not acres of lovely carpet visitors want to see, but the products."
So, that is good news for the recovery industry - full credit to Roger King and the RHA for taking a bold stance on the European Tow Show. Frank and Roy have developed the show into a very professional showcase for the industry and it would have been sad for the show not to go ahead.
Frank is very positive about the future of the show and, it seems, had a strong influence in the RHA decision. "It is time to start talking up the recovery industry," said Frank. "I know it is difficult for manufacturers at the present time, but the European Tow Show has built such support over the past five years that I am sure they see it as a wonderful opportunity to show off their latest vehicles and meet old and potentially new customers in a warm, friendly environment."
The show will take place at the International Centre in Telford in the last week of June (25th, 26th and 27th). Organisers Frank McAllister and Roy Jones have already canvassed support from manufactures and suppliers to the recovery industry and now that the RHA have removed any lingering doubts about the show, exhibitors can be expecting calls from Frank.
Frank has already indicated that for the first time the show will be entirely indoors. The show has grown in popularity and the decision to move the last few exhibitors indoors will be popular with the exhibitors.
Visitors are now encouraged to contact the show website and book their hotel rooms. Once again three hotels will be available for the weekend of the show; the Holiday Inn, International and Grays Hotels.
The Telford venue has everything on tap for a wonderful show and a weekend of meeting friends old and new from the industry. It is all systems go now for Frank, Roy and the RHA Show Team. Exhibitors are encouraged to visit the show website for more details - www.towshow.co.uk
